This app has nice themes for writing, but you can only export what you’ve written in two different forms: plain, and academic. They look good and everything, but its not much to choose from. The 5 themes that you can write in are great, not sure why they don’t offer the 5 themes as export options.

This app has become my favourte text editor and writing application on Mac. Keep up the great work. It would be nice to have more and better themes. Plus a feature to adjust the font size without adding the hashtags.

I wish that it would remember the theme that you were last using! I have a preference of using the terminal theme because its easier on my eyes.

Very good and convenient text editor, and I almost like it’s key feature (focus on the text, not on the formatting). But there are two things that distract me during the typing: 1. Font size. It cannot be changed, but it is way too big for me. 2. Word and characters count font in status bar is too bright in some themes (in comparison to text and background colors).

No need to access the web, no need to make an account, It’s free, Can be opened by many other documents for transferability and provides an indefinite “as you type” spelling error. Even though I don’t need them and likely won’t use these features, but this app offers the option to momentarily command document spellcheck and spell error instead and to activate auto correct. A number of other key features and customizable details available as well, but basically above was the main concept I was looking for. Nice writing app definitely a huge step up and replacement for the notepad for some more advanced writing. Type "writing free" in search bar instead of document or word document, etc. to get a better search of what the app store offers in this category.

This is a great app and a serious contender with Byword (which needs a refresh). The styles are beautiful and modern, but the program is zippy and light. However, my only complaint is that it lacks MMD which limits the usefulness of this as a document writer. Appreciate this app and plan to enjoy trying it out! Thanks!

Nice text writing app, and it’s free. Definitely worth the download.

I have a ton of pre-existing markdown files that Writed has greyed out in the open dialog box. Other markdown editors have zero problems opening them. This makes it pretty useless for anyone wanting to actually share content with other people.

The interface is nice, but unfortunately it was not even worth spending the time testing all of its features since it can’t open any markdown files. The document “2015-03-20-weekly-report-9.md” could not be opened. Writed cannot open files in the “Markdown” format.

The one thing that kept me from rating this app 5 stars in my last review was that strikethroughs were very annoying. Now the operator that makes strkethroughs has been changed, and the app is way better! 5 stars now with this fix. Thank you developers!

Definitely competes with paid apps for one of the best clean, minimalist writing environments on the app store. Includes two in-app purchases for Print/PDF themes and an export package, both for $1.99. Very usable without either. By default you can already export to HTML, PDF or markdown. My favorite feature are being able to make inline comments that do not get printed in the end result, but the single line comment “//“ does not seem to be working in my version. Without this flaw, review would easily be 5 stars. Being able to have a default theme that all documents use instead of switching between themes on each startup would also be excellent.

Markdown is a fantastic language, but so far just about every desktop markdown editor available still adheres to the two-pane waste of space that should’ve gone out of style a long time ago. Writed nails it — it’s the first inline markdown editor I’ve seen (that actually covers all the major formatting syntax) for Mac that gets it right. Even if you’ve never heard of markdown, this is a fantastically simple and clean text editor. Free is insane, and even the paid features (while necessary) are cheap. I got one just to support them. Big beef, though: Why the proprietary format? Why not save to plain text or markdown file types? Please don’t lock us into a platform or something — just let me pay a fair price for a fantastic app that plays nicely and easily with other markdown editors. (I use 1writer on my phone, which also gets inline markdown editing right, and it’d be nice if the files talked to oen another.)

it would be good to have “Right to left” feature.

It recognizes immediately what language I’m typing in which makes it SUPER user friendly and very low maintenance. On microsoft word you have to manually change the language which is a small inconvenience but this takes care of that for you. What I honestly downloaded it for was something that wasn’t TextEdit that could actually be used with the screen sharing Mac update (as for some reason Microsoft products don’t function) and Thus far- extremely pleased with the download!

This product is waste of time and money they give you one thing. sell you another, none of it worked correctly Apple product should take this off the shelf right away and give all money back to the people that bought the extras to this. I would not use this product again even if helll was freezing over.

This app is absolutely perfect for taking down notes or even writing a lengthy novel, simple because it is so clean and clutter-free. It is ideal for students as well as even the professional writers. Definitely recommended.

It really is nice looking. And it does exactly what you want it to do, with no clutter. My only problem with it is that I’d like an easier way to cut and paste styled text out of writed. I can copy and paste the markdown source out of the editor. Alternatively, I can click on the preview in the lower right corner, which renders the text (with bulleted list, emphases, font sizes for headers, etc.) but if I copy and paste out of the print preview, the arbitrary line breaks come with it. The only way I’ve found to copy and paste styled text out of writed is to export to HTML, open the HTML in a browser, and copy it from there. This leaves me with an HTML file to clean up. Too many steps. I’d love a simple way to copy and paste.

Isn’t it the most basic feature of any writing program?
